Completed draft of Machine Learning Interviews (O'Reilly)!
On to copyediting and further production process.
Thank you all for the support of the Machine Learning Interviews book! I wanted to share some progress:
Firstly, I’ve completed the first manuscript, including the following updates.
Almost doubled the size of the first chapter, explaining various ML roles in more depth due to common confusion, like the same ML titles at different companies can be responsible for different tasks. Identifying this can help ML candidates apply to roles even more relevant for their skills.
Added more example questions that aren’t present on the early release version.
Added a section on FANG behavioral interviews, pulling in feedback from friends at each of the big tech companies to provide behind-the-scenes insights! These will be included in the book.
Much more has been updated that I can’t list out, but my editors, technical reviewers, and I are all quite happy with the resulting manuscript!
I think we’re unable to update the early release again with these hefty updates until the remaining copyediting and steps are done, so thank you for the patience. I will post on this newsletter when that’s updated. I’m also hoping to share some sneak previews on this Substack of the updated chapters, so stay tuned here.
I’m also seeing the book starting to pop up on some major stores, though I believe some of the final details (such as table of contents) will continue to be updated until launch.

In other news, I’ve been abroad for the last few weeks to spend time with my family in Taiwan. Apart from spending time with relatives and family, I enjoyed the food (beef noodle soup, cheap and yummy seafood…) and bubble tea there. Night markets are as lively as ever, giving me a lot of nostalgia from when I was a kid there.
That’s it for this update, and I will keep you all posted on the state of the O’Reilly platform releases, as well as publishing dates. I’m also hoping to share some sneak previews on this Substack of the updated chapters! Thanks again for reading.
